Bulls Host There First Home Tournament
The John Harvey State Farm Insurance/Newman Oliver & McCarten Insurance Minor Atom AE Belleville Junior Bulls played host to their first home tournament, at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, from September 30 to October 2nd.

The Bulls opened the tournament on Friday with a matinee contest against one of their Lakeshore rivals, the Whitby Wildcats.  After a tight opening frame where both teams traded chances with no goals to show for it, the Wildcats potted four goals in the 2nd period.  Despite a beauty goal by Travis Whitmore midway through the 3rd, Whitby scored a pair in response and walked away with a 6-1 victory.

Next up was an extremely tough contest against the Ottawa West Golden Knights on Friday evening.  Despite a pair of goals from Nolan Bridges and Travis Whitmore, the Bulls were unable to contain the onslaught for long.  The Rep 'B' Golden Knights scored in bunches and controlled play for the majority of the game.  Despite this, the Bulls kept their composure and played their best until the final whistle.

On Saturday the Bulls came to the rink with redemption in mind, and opened the day with a tilt against their old foes from Georgina.  Georgina was the host city for last year's Regional Silver Stick tournament, where the Bulls walked away with the hardware.  In this game the Bulls channelled some of that positive energy, and played a complete game; and earning a 5-1 victory.  Noah Roy led by example, with two goals and an assist, Reed Andrus, Jack Short, and Keegan Murphy chipped in with one goal and an assist each.  Travis Whitmore had two assists, while Tanner Zadworny, Nolan Bridges, Nolan Elmy, and Nicholas Martin each assisted on a goal.

With a spot in the play-offs in mind, the Bulls took to the ice against the Newmarket Redmen on Saturday afternoon.  This turned out to be one of the games of the tournament, with each team traded chances all game, and neither able to gain the upper hand before the final whistle.  The game ended in a 5-5 draw.  Ethan Walsh was the catalyst for the Bulls offence, contributing with a pair of goals and an assist.  Nicholas Martin also had a big game, scoring a goal and adding two assists.  Nolan Elmy and Travis Whitmore added the other markers.  Additional assists came from Tanner Zadworny who had two, Reed Andrus, Nolan Bridges, and Jacob Goodfellow.  With the tie, the Bulls were booked into the semi-finals on Sunday.

The Bulls were in tough again against the West Ottawa Golden Knights in Sundays play-off round.  The Bulls came out determined to put forth their best effort against a talented team that had cruised through the tournament.  Despite limiting Ottawa's chances through the first two periods, the Bulls were unable to contain the Golden Knights in the 3rd, and the Golden Knights punched their ticket into the finals.  However, the coaches (and parents!) were very proud of the boys effort in the face of adversity, and focused on the positives over the tournament weekend.
