Bulls Back in the Win Column
The John Harvey State Farm Insurance/Newman Oliver & McCarten Insurance Minor Atom AE Belleville Junior Bulls travelled to Pickering on Sunday evening.

After a few tough weeks the Bulls were looking to get back into the win column, against the Pickering Panthers.  In the last few games the Bulls had taken some tough losses against Peterborough, Northumberland, and Oshawa.  The Bulls also almost let their last tilt with the Panthers slip away, turning an early 5-1 lead into a 5-4 nail biting victory.  The coaches have been working hard with the boys in practice, trying to get them focused on team play and passing, and it seems the message is now being received loud and clear.

On this night, the Bulls came out determined and focused, with a few odd man rushes to start the first period, skating out to a 2-1 lead after the first stanza.  Noah Roy continues to be a steady contributor, as he opened the scoring for the visiting team from Belleville, on a nifty backhand to forehand deke over the goalies blocker.  After Pickering tied it up the Bulls put on the pressure and, after a mad scramble in front of the Panthers net, Ethan Walsh was able to poke the puck past the net minder.

The second period saw the Bulls pile on the pressure, and reap the reward of some good team play and puck pressure.  Two goals from Reed Andrus, and another snipe from Travis Whitmore gave the visiting squad a comfortable 5-2 lead going into the final frame.  The hard work continued, and so did the goals, in the third period for the Bulls.  Travis Whitmore scored another beauty goal top shelf, and then Reed Andrus finished the nights scoring with a nifty backhand over the goalies shoulder; final score 7-2.  Assists in the game went to Cam Adamson, Keegan Murphy, Jack Short, Brett Keene, and Noah Roy.

Ethan Yuke stood tall in the nets once again, making some high quality saves and saving all but two of Pickering’s chances.

Next up:  @ Whitby Wildcats on Saturday, December 17th.
