U12 AA Bulls win Georgina Silver Stick!!!
The Duvanco Homes Belleville Bulls had a successful weekend at the Sylvia Tremblatt Silver Stick Regional Qualifier.
The Bulls finished the round robin portion of the tournament with a 3 win and 1 tie record. They also ended the round robin with 14 goals and only 4 goals against, including one shutout.
Their excellent record put them into the semi-finals against a strong Barrie Colts team. The Bulls would win by a score of 3-2 which sent them to the championship game against a new rival, the Eastern Ontario Cobras.
The final game was quite entertaining, but also quite stressful for the Belleville fans in attendance!
The Bulls scored first, but soon after found themselves defending their net against a 5 on 3 power play. The Cobras had several shots on net, but couldn't manage a goal.
Later in the game with a 2-1 lead for the Bulls, and just 37 seconds left in the game, the Cobras scored. The game would go to overtime.
With the Silver Stick on the line, neither team managed to score in the first overtime. You could feel the anxiety levels rising amongst the fans in the stands! Then, at the 7:48 mark of the second overtime period, Rowyn Haley scored (assisted by Kyler Patterson and John Dorey) to win the championship game!!!
Rowyn Haley led all players in the tournament with 15 points over 6 games and was awarded Silver Stick Game MVP!!! Congratulations Rowyn!
By winning this tournament, the U12 AA Bulls have now qualified for the Silver Stick Finals in Newmarket in January, 2023. Congratulations boys!!!
