Bulls stampede into 2023
The Duvanco Homes U12 AA Bulls kick-off 2023 with a tie and two shutout victories!
After a Holiday break and two weeks since playing a formal game together, the Bulls returned to game action on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. They hosted the North Durham Warriors at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
Some timely saves in the first half of the game and four decent goals put the Bulls up 4-0 by the middle of the second period. It looked like the Bulls hadn't lost their stride and timing after 14 days off.
Then at 4:43 of the second period, a breakaway goal put the Warriors on the scoreboard. That seemed to put some spice in the Warriors play as they went to work in the third period scoring two goals early and then tied the game on a nice tipped shot while on the power play. The scoring did, however, stop there as the goalies at both ends closed the door to give both teams a tie.
The Bulls aimed to restart their scoring parade and protect the net as they visited Oshawa on Saturday, January 7th. The first period was fairly quiet with no scoring. Then things got interesting in the second when the Bulls scored 4 unanswered goals and both teams received 14 minutes in penalties combined. The penalties continued in the third with Oshawa receiving at least 8 minutes in the box, while Belleville scored again to take a 5-0 win.
Then on Sunday, January 8th the Bulls visited Pickering for their third match of the season against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders. The Bulls dominated offensively and defensively for most of the game, while the Raiders' goalie stood tall in net to keep the Bulls up only 1-0. The Bulls did manage another in the third to finish with a 2-0 win.
The Bulls now have 16 wins in Lakeshore League action, and this past weekend they earned two back-to-back shutouts!
ON DECK: The Bulls return home this Wednesday, January 11th as they host the Northumberland Nighthawks. Game time is 6pm at the Mackay Insurance Arena. Go Bulls Go!!!
