The 2024/25 Belleville Jr. Bulls U13 Selects came out on top 3-2 in their season opener against the Quinte West Golden Hawks at the Dr. McMullen Arena in Frankford on Sunday.
The Bulls came out charging, dominating the play in the first period and building a 3 goal lead in the first 10 minutes.
The second period was a back and forth battle as the Bulls had several scoring chances and the the Golden Hawks gained some momentum with several good scoring chances of their own. Bulls starting goaltender Declan Paul was more than up to the task and held the Golden Hawks scoreless for the first half of the game.
The third period saw the Golden Hawks surge while the Bulls got into a little penalty trouble and did their best to add to and protect the lead in the circumstances. Several Bulls early scoring chances were turned aside. Bulls goaltender Elliot Bolduc was excellent in relief, allowing two goals but stopping many golden opportunities, including a number of goal-mouth scrambles and a breakaway late in the game which proved to be the difference as the Bulls held on for the win.
Congratulations to the players on a hard fought game and their first win!
The Bull are next in action Saturday November 23 at 1:30PM at Oshawa Hawks and Sunday November 24 at 8PM at Napanee Stars.
