2020-2021 Season Update
Submitted By Erin Manboarde on Wednesday, September 2, 2020
Dear Members, We would like to thank you for your patience as we begin our Return to Hockey plan and ensure that we can all return to the ice safely.

It will be important for parents and players to be flexible in their thinking and in their expectations this season, more than any other, as we do not expect at this point we will be able to offer a “typical” hockey experience. The focus will be on returning to the ice safely, retaining engagement and developing skills for the 2021-22 season. The return to a typical hockey season will take time and patience.

BMHA has met with the City of Belleville to discuss our ice allocation, cost and their plans with in the city facilities - specifically, timelines for ice availability, entry to facilities, use of changing rooms, load capacity within each ice pad, number of participants allowed on the ice during each ice session etc..

We will see an impact to our seasonal budget with the decrease in roster size and lack of tournament revenue this season. Our Mandate is to build a program that get kids back on the ice to promote their physical and mental well-being during these times, while being fiscally responsible and working within our governing body, and city guidelines.

We strongly support the direction from the OMHA and the OHF and right now our key focus is getting players back on the ice, playing with their friends, providing good physical health, and supporting their mental well-being.

As we move through each phase of our return to hockey framework, the SAFETY of our players, family, volunteers, officials and community will be guiding every decision and consideration BMHA makes moving forward.

We would like to share some details about what the process for registration will be and what our season plan currently looks like.  Please know that our plans are now approved by OMHA, the City of Belleville and our local public health unit and we have a start date set for Oct 1

Here is what we know:

1) Players who were registered with us last year are welcome to register with us again this year.  If this is not your home centre, you may choose to return to your home centre.  If this is your home centre and you played somewhere else last year, you may choose to register here for this season.

2) There will be no transfers approved this year, unless you are moving and Belleville will become your new home centre.

3) Players may only play in one minor hockey association.  i.e. female players may only play in either OMHA or OW not both.

4) Players that are playing in unsanctioned leagues may only register with us provided the unsanctioned league is completed by September 30th.

5) There will be no representative hockey at this time, so there will be no tryouts until determined by OMHA/OHF.

6) Registration will be completed in blocks (sessions) for the season.  Each player must register in the Hockey Canada Registry as per usual until numbers fill.

7) Ice time and number of participants on the ice is limited.  This does put us in a bind so registration will be accepted based on the following as we enter each block;
a) date player has registered in the
Hockey Canada Registry (HCR)- should be completed now (online now Closed)
b) date player has requested a remaining space through email.([email protected]) Office will register where spaces are still available
Your request for placement in tier 1 or tier 2 is not guaranteed.

c) Payment in full.  *families who need additional time or funding should contact our office administrator as soon as possible to discuss Payment due by September 15 but please do not send until you are notified as to what tier your player will be in
d) Players that did not register in time for Session 1 can still be eligible for Session 2 Notice will be posted when registration for the next session opens

8) Once notified as to your amount owing, payment can be made by e-transfer only to [email protected]  Transfers are set up for auto deposit so no password is required.  Please specify for whom you are paying for in the notes when you send so that payment can be allocated accordingly.
Team details will follow after Sept 15th, please wait for your email

9) In the event we are paused at a phase or it is cancelled there will be no refund for the block we are currently in.  No player may move to the next block unless the previous block is paid in full.

Registration Fees for Session Block 1 (Oct - Nov1)

Please note the first block will cover fees for insurance with Hockey Canada/OHF and OMHA of $50.00 and a Jersey fee.  These are one time fees and will be applied to new players as they register for each block.
