U12AA Belleville Bulls Win at Home against the Raiders
The Belleville Bulls took an early lead against the Ajax Pickering Raiders and never gave it back to take the win. With the win, the Bulls jumped into 4th place in league standings and have collected a point in 10 of the last 11 games in regular season play. The Bulls have turned it around and the coaches are doing a great job to get this team working together.
The first period was quiet with a few chances on both sides but solid goaltending from Mason P kept the period scoreless. The 2nd period saw the Bulls coming out strong with the Bulls controlling play in the offensive end. Emmett S was huge in keeping pucks in the zone and out of harm's way. The dam finally broke when the Raiders would cough the puck up on another strong forecheck right to Luis G who would snipe over the goalie's shoulder to open the scoring. The Bulls pressure would continue to build and Luis G would win the draw, push the puck through in the O-zone and find Nate G who tucked it past the Raider goalie to make it 2-0. With 3 minutes left in the 2nd period, Greyson B would block a shot to keep the puck out of the Bulls zone.
The Bulls looked comfortable going into the 3rd frame but the momentum would shift. The Bulls got jammed in their zone and couldn't clear the puck which lead to a Raider goal to make it 2-1. The Bulls wouldn't back down though. A solid clearing out of the zone by Luis G off the glass would find Nate G who would move it up to Maverick C who would skate it in all alone and snipe for the Bulls. The Raiders wouldn't go away and would respond shortly after with a goal of their own to bring the lead to within 1. The Bulls would lock it down after this with some solid backchecking and defence. Mason P would make 2 huge saves with about 5 minutes left to preserve the Bulls lead. The Raiders would pull their goalie early to try and tie it up but Luke D would find the empty net to make it 4-2 Bulls.
The Bulls have a challenging weekend coming up as they host Whitby on Saturday and the Clarington Toros on Sunday as they head into the Christmas break. The Bulls are rolling going into this weekend. Go Bulls go!!
