U12AA Bulls grab a point in Goaltending Battle vs Whitby
The Bulls were back at it on Saturday afternoon at the CAA Arena in regular season play against one of the top teams in the Lakeshore league. Both goalies shined on the day as the teams went back and forth trading chances. Both teams would score 1 a piece to end up in a tie. The Bulls take away a key point against a top team going into Sunday's battle against the undefeated Clarington Toros at home.
The Bulls would strike first early in this one with a goal by Griffin M-G assisted by Dylan P. The Bulls had several chances in the 1st but the Whitby goalie would do a great job of keeping the score to 1. The 2nd period would see momentum shift and Whitby would strike back with several changes of their own. Derek W would make some critical saves at 13:57 left in 2nd and again with huge glove save with 4 minutes left in the period. The wildcats were awarded a penalty with the period coming to a close. The coaching staff would call a well-timed timeout with a minute left to regroup and kill off the final minute of the penalty with the Bulls going into the 3rd with the lead.
The 3rd period would see two teams pushing for the next goal. The Bulls would see many chances but eventually an unlucky bounce would see the Wildcats score a short-handed goal about 4 minutes into the 3rd period. The Bulls would not back down and continued to press. Several great opportunities were denied by the Whitby goalie. The Bulls defence did their part of not letting many shots through in the 3rd and moving the puck up to the forwards. The Bulls would be given some powerplay opportunities in the final minute and would pepper the goalie with shots but could not get the winning goal. The game would end in a tie but the effort was incredible to close out the game.
