U12AA Belleville Bulls take the W in Quinte West
The U12AA Belleville Bulls were in Quinte West Tuesday night for their final matchup of the regular season against the Golden Hawks. It was a close game with several saves and chances on both sides. The Bulls would come out on top with a 2-1 win that would catapult them into sole possession of 3rd place in Lakeshore league standings. The Bulls are rolling down the stretch with 3 wins in a row and take on the Northumberland Nighthawks this coming Saturday afternoon at the CAA Arena.
The first period would be a difficult period with the Bulls killing off several penalties. The Golden Hawks were dictating play and would score first to open the scoring and take the 1-0 lead. The Bulls would find their stride in the 2nd period and begin to pressure the Hawks in the offensive zone. However, with about 5 minutes left in the 2nd period, the Hawks would be awarded a penalty shot. Derek W would make an incredible save to keep the score at 1-0. This would prove to be a major momentum shift as the Bulls would begin to charge.
The third period would be all Bulls. A tic tac toe passing play from Luis G to Maverick C, would find Nate G coming down to score top shelf on the Golden Hawks to make it 1-1. The Hawks would find themselves in penalty trouble and the Bulls would continue to gather momentum. With about 5 minutes left in the 3rd and the Bulls on the Powerplay, a nice pass into the zone by Nolan J would find Luis G who would dish it off to Maverick C who would score to take the 2-1 lead. The period would end with some great backchecking and defensive play to close out the game and preserve the win.
