U12AA Belleville Bulls lose to Kingston in Playoff Opener
The road to the OMHAs began with a stop in Kingston on Saturday afternoon against the Kingston Canadians. The Bulls came away with a 3-2 loss but fought right to the end and battled hard. The Bulls will get right back at it with an away game in Clarington on Wednesday night against the first place Toros. Go Bulls go!
The Bulls started the first period with some great saves by Derek W. The Canadians had a lot of momentum but the Bulls made some great defensive plays to keep it 0-0. Blake P cleared the puck with 34 seconds left in the period and Knox S blocked a shot in the dying seconds of the period to keep it scoreless going into the 2nd period.
The Bulls would strike first to take the lead when Luis G would take the puck into the slot from the corner and snipe on the goalie to make it 1-0. The lead wouldn't last long as the Canadians would score less than 2 minutes after to tie it up. The 2nd period would end 1-1.
The 3rd period would see the Canadians strike first after a Bulls turnover behind the net. The Canadians continued to press but the Bulls goaltender, Derek W made a huge glove save at 5:02 left in the 3rd and then another sprawling save at 4:33 left in the third. Eventually the Canadians would score shorthanded to take a 3-1 lead 2:20 left in the period. The Bulls wouldn't go away and Knox S would score with 1:22 left in the 3rd. The Bulls pressed but couldn't get the equalizer and would leave with a 3-2 loss.
