York Simoce/Lakeshore Challenge Cup Champions
The Quinte Smiles/Landtech Design/McCarten Travel Belleville Novice AE Junior Bulls have done it again.  The Lakeshore League champions of last week travelled to Cobourg on Saturday for a 2 game series against the York Simcoe League champions (Schomberg Red Wings) and won the York Simcoe/Lakeshore Challenge Cup!  This series victory capped a very successful eight month journey.  A journey that netted this team a Regional Silver Stick Championship, the Lakeshore League Championship, and a Challenge Cup Championship.  Players and their parents share with great pride in these victories and are deeply appreciated for the hard work, selflessness, sacrifice, determination, and focus that is needed to pull off such a successful season.

Belleville worked hard in the first game and earned many chances to score but Schomberg’s spirited defence and great goaltending, plus a few posts, kept the game scoreless until five minutes into the third when the Simcoe champions notched the first goal of the game.  The Belleville bench kept their heads high and continued to press, finally getting rewarded with five minutes to go in the game with an in front of the net scramble type goal.  The game would end in a 1-1 tie.

Game two in the afternoon was a similar affair.  Belleville kept Schomberg’s shots to a minimum to start the game and Isaiah More got our squad on the board with an unassisted goal.  Schomberg made a push to try and get back in the game but Callum Decker stood tall and would earn his eventual shut out with some solid saves.  With five minutes left in the game, Belleville got the insurance goal from a great pass through the middle of the ice from Tyler Pierce to Isaiah More, who buried the puck upstairs after crossing the blue line and beating a defenceman to get to the net.

The season may now be done but the memories will last forever.  These boys have had a heck of a great time from their efforts.  The team wishes to extend many thanks to all the sponsors, friends, and families that have supported and encouraged us throughout the season.  No campaign is easy and this particular campaign Had. It. All!
