Bonwest Limited/Chuck's Roadhouse Peewee AE Bulls Weekend Recap
Submitted By AERep - Peewee on Monday, September 9, 2019
The Bonwest Limited/Chuck’s Roadhouse Peewee AE Bulls traveled to Markham this past weekend for the Markham Waxers September Showdown. First game of the tournament and of the year for the Bulls was against the host team Markham Waxers.  The boys ready to put their practices and team development days to the test came away with a 3-1 victory.

Friday’s second game opponent was the Stoney Creek Warriors (Red) who had come off a 1-1 tie in their previous game.  Working on their positioning and teamwork the Bulls had many chances but the posts and crossbar was not on their side. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Saturday morning the Bulls faced the Leaside Flames who were 1-1.  Building on the play of the two previous games the boys worked hard and dominated the play and got the result they wanted a 7-0 victory.  After a well-deserved break it was back on the ice for the last game of the day against the Georgina Blaze.  The boys picked up from where they left off against the Flames and stormed to a 6-0 win, back to back teamwork shutouts. The Bulls finishing top in their division and were off to the Sunday crossover Semifinals.

Redemption was on the Bulls mind when they found out their opponent, The Peterborough Petes.  Time for a rematch of the 2018-2019 Lakeshore Final.  The boys were ready.  As always the Petes came out strong forcing the play.  Building on the success of teamwork the Bulls regained the momentum and went up 2-0. Keeping constant pressure on the Petes goalie the boys found the back of the net a few more times. Redemption, a 6-2 final. The Bulls are going to the Finals.

Enter in the Aurora Tigers, 3x defending champions of this tournament and 5-0 this weekend.  This was geared up to a good final.  The boys came in from their warm up pumped and ready to finish off the weekend with a win. From the first drop of the puck the Bulls put pressure on the Tigers, dominating and controlling the play.  The boys built a quick lead that seemed to take the Tigers by surprise and take the wind out of their sail.  Controlling the game and adding to the score in the second the Bulls were able to start the third period with a run time clock.  The boys kept focused and didn’t allow Aurora many scoring opportunities in their end. As the long 15 minutes of run time came to an end the Final 7-0 Bulls. Time to celebrate their hard work with some champions hardware.

Congratulations to Peewee AE Bulls on their successful weekend.  This was a full team effort and a great start to an exciting year. Thank you also goes out to the coaching staff, Adam, Jay, Mike and Rick for their hard work.
