Notes From The Road: Bulls Show Some Heart, Then Weather A Storm
the John Harvey State Farm Insurance/Newman Oliver & McCarten Insurance Minor Atom AE Belleville Junior Bulls took to the road for a pair of games this past weekend.  The Bulls first travelled to Legends Arena to take on the Oshawa Generals on Saturday, then travelled to Peterborough to take on the Petes in a Sunday matinee.

Against Oshawa the Bulls found themselves in a tough spot early on, as the Generals pressed the attack for much of the first and second periods, building a commanding 4-1 lead heading into the 3rd stanza.  The lone highlight from the first two periods was Zack Goyers booming snapshot from the blue line.  After a good 'talking to' from the coaches, the boys came out fired up for the final frame.  Goals from Jacob Goodfellow and Travis Whitmore quickly pulled the Junior Bulls within striking distance.  Jack Strong chipped in with an assist on Jacob's goal.  It wasn't until late in the period that Reed Andrus was able to tie the game, with a skillful backhand shot over the goalies shoulder.  The game ended in a 4-4 draw, and a real gutsy performance from the Bulls to come away with a point on the road.

In Peterborough the Bulls knew they were in tough against a team that won all but one game last year, and who had never relinquished top spot in the standings.  Despite a great effort and a goal from Nicholas Martin, the wheels came off early and the Bulls weren't able to recover from a slow start.  The Peterborough Petes scored in bunches and cruised to a 9-1 drubbing.  Travis Whitmore got the lone assist on Nicholas's goal.

Up Next:  The Bulls take part in their very first home tournament, Sept 30 to Oct 2, with games scheduled against Whitby, Ottawa, Georgina, and Newmarket.
