Thanksgiving weekend seen the novice Ae team in
action for their first home game of the season against Oshawa. With two players
away and no additional help to the team, the team skated short benched the
entire game. Pre-game warm ups had the boys looking nervous as they stared down the length of the ice to an
8 year old goalie who filled the net.
Instruction was given to the team, to remain focused and play our game. Off to a slow start once again the team was inspired by the stellar play, and some key positional saves by Callum Decker. The boys then found Oshawa's down fall and capitalized shortly thereafter putting on a shooting clinic. A 6-1 final for the home team that included 5 of 6 goals top cheese. Leading the way was Isaiah More with 3 goals followed by Reed Andrus 2 goals 1 assist, Connor Kerik 1 goal, Sam Brearley 2 assists, Tanner Zadworny 2 assists, Zack Goyer 2 assists, Tyler Pierce 1 assist and Hayden Newson 1 assist.
Player of the game went to Connor Kerik who had his break out game, and is proof; if you practice hard, listen to your coaches and put in the effort you can achieve your goals. Having difficulty with his back hand shot, Connor worked on it in practice with the assistance of one of his coaches and opened the scoring with a sweet fore hand back hand move using his backhand to seal the deal top shelf.
Next up the team is home again for back to back games against Whitby and Ajax.
